June 16 The Sports Drink Myth by Tim WilsonIf you're health conscious, you’re probably aware that the
quality of the water you drink has great impact on your well being.
What you may not be aware of is there is a way to greatly enhance
the water you are drinking now. It’s called X2O.
Since virtually everyone needs better pH balance, a wide array of bio-available minerals, and increased cellular hydration, we expect this product will continue to lead the way for a long time to come. It's about time. The world seems to be flooded with drinks that can seriously compromise ones health with continued use (sodas, etc.) or, beverages that most of us have been trained to call sports drinks . I say "trained"because it's interesting to me that if an item is presented with a name and used often enough, it can become known as that even if the description is anything but accurate. Think of "artificial grass" which isn't grass at all. Think of "Grape Nuts" which contain neither grapes or nuts Now think of "sports drinks". While you do, consider that if you are engaging in a sport, (or anything that exercises your body for that matter) all of that activity creates lactic acid. As it builds up in muscles, lactic acid creates the soreness that we associate with over-exertion. Drinking a typical "sports drink" at this point would be hydrating with a liquid that is typically quite acidic- just the opposite of what the body needs during this time. Since our bodies naturally perform better with a more balanced pH, it would make much more sense to hydrate with alkaline water that would benefit that condition, rather than add more acidity to have to work against.
Now consider that when you are engaging in any activity that makes you perspire, you are not just losing water or Gatorade, you are sweating out a kind of soup that contains a wide variety of minerals. Here's a rather alarming statistic from the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA.. Approximately 100,000 youngsters as well as pros die each year from cardio-vascular disorders as a result of sports. That is about twice the number of people that lose their lives on American highways in a year. According to the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, "Some of the physiologic roles of minerals important to athletes are their involvement in: muscle contraction, normal heart rhythm, nerve impulse conduction, oxygen transport, oxidative processes, enzyme activation, immune functions, antioxidant activity, bone health, and acid-base balance of the blood." That's important to non-athletes as well. We know many of these are called "essential minerals" because if any number of
them are missing for a length of time, it can and will cause problems- many of which are life threatening. That's why exercise without mineral supplementation is a negative, not a positive. It's a lot like running your car hot without an essential fluid like w ater or oil. That's why many natural-minded health practitioners remind us that regularly engaging your body without supplementation is a recipe for poor health and even slow suicide. At the very least, losing minerals or not getting them in the diet in the first place will not give your body the raw materials to perform as it otherwise could. Obviously, so called sports drinks with 2 or 3 minerals added aren't going to make up for the deficit. Many people are so used to a lower level of health, it becomes thought of as normal. Remember, you don't have to be an athlete to sweat. You could be working in a garden, or on a house, or just living in a warm climate. The bottom line is that chronological age is different than biological age, and biological age is something you can change with good habits. It may take time, but it's worth it. If you want to stay healthy or want to make a difference for others who want to be, it will mean understanding that to be at your best level of health will mean getting the raw materials everyday, and many of the essential ones are minerals. In 1936, Rex Beach presented document #264 to the US Senate, which discussed Dr. Charles Northen’s research on the prevalent mineral depletion of America’s soil. At that time, North America’s soils were estimated to be sorely lacking in mineral content
and 99% of Americans were considered mineral deficient.
Studies showed then, and maintain today, that the vegetables, fruits, grains, milk and even animal products that are eaten today, do not provide close to the same nutrition as they did 100 years ago. It is impossible for a person today to acquire all mineral needs from food because our soils have become so deficient. Hundreds of years of farming, combined with the effects of pesticides, herbicides, air and water pollution, have slowly drained the soil of its vital elements. Eating organic foods can help, and since you are getting this newsletter, you likely know about and are drinking the mineral - rich water that is called X2O. The "X" is for Extreme, as in extremely healthy water. Consider that both the research and good sense point to something that many consider to be one of the most beneficial, effective, and affordable products that you could ever find out about for long term well being. You should be drinking something everyday anyway, why not make it something that will contribute toward experiencing your highest level of health? ; Permission to publish given by -Tim Wilson
Chef Alan Stevenson June 15 Rachael Ray in "The Kitchen from Hell" With the release on msn of Forbes' 2007 list of the most influential stars , I thought an interlude would be justified considering who is on it. Forbes' didn't need to tell anyone that Oprah is the #1 big cheese or that Tom Cruise is in the top ten. What I did find interesting though was that Rachael Ray hit the list at #66. I also was recently informed that she is making roughly $6 mil. a year now. Impressive to say the least for an untrained celeb CHEF!
A few trained celeb chefs have recently referred to her as a "cute marketing bobblehead" understanding a bit about the "a face makes bucks industry" I would have to say I agree. Do I like Rachael Ray? I think she is cute, yes, as well as her down to earth nature, but she also presents at times the idea she believes her jewels are big enough to come in a dump truck! I guess a nonconfident face would be a bad thing though.
It would be most interesting to see Rachael in the kitchen from hell / (Hell's Kitchen TV show) to see how she would fair? A true test of skills and knowledge without advisors. I think some unique colors might come out in this given situation.
I wish Rachael no ill what so ever, yet hey $6 mill a year? "Way to go Rachael!" BUT perhaps if I "Stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night" (TM of Holiday Inns TV commercial) , it might of been me!
Alan Stevenson June 14 "Our Daily Food & Water" Vol 1 entry 2 In the past few posts we have been laying the foundations of the true starting point to being healthier by hydrating your bodies cells, as well as starting to raise your internal pH balance back to 7.365. This process of raising your pH does not happen over night as most have spent many years lowering their internal pH levels with acidic fluid intake. Our bodies on a daily basis produce a lot of acid just by mere function and requires an average of 64 to 75ozs of water to compensate for this. If you are now in your 30's, 40's or beyond, not only do you need to compensate for the the daily functioning build up of acids but also a probable existing lower internal pH level.
For illustrative purposes lets say your blood pH is 6.4 pH and your water intake is correct for daily requirements. You'll only be maintaining your current pH levels. By increasing the pH of your water from 7.0pH (bottled water) to say 9.9pH or 10.5pH, provides you with measures to keep your daily functioning acids in check as well as work on improving your existing pH levels. The ability to raise the pH of the water you drink really was not available till Xooma produced and released their X2O product.
Am I a user of Xooma's X2O, as well as why am I a strong supporter of Xooma's goal to help change the health of a generation? Well! Yes I am a user of the product X2O, to my great personal health benefit. Being a strong supporter has more to do with the medical journal research I had done prior to finding this amazing product which was tested at the Nassa & langley labs park in Hampton VA. Find out more about it HERE .
So lets move on to the food aspect of this blog post. So much of our diets have become comprised of far too much canned and boxed goods with a completely backwards eating schedule. So to start we eat nutritionally empty food from cans & boxes and FILL, and I do mean FILL right up at the WRONG time of day which is dinner time. This people, is a time when we are suppose to be winding down yet continue to add excessive amounts of food that are going to be unburned. This in turn from a chemical stand point leaves your body no choice but to turn it into fat and store it. The following day your body doesn't say "Hey we had some fuel set aside from last night, lets use that up first!" NO, NO it wants more new fuel as last nights went to storage. Storage is, as your body thinks, NON-RETRIEVEABLE till you are starving ONLY! OR your daily fuel intake drops below daily output required.
Most say. "Well I get hungry at night!" You have trained yourself to be hungry at night is more like it. Food is being used more as a drug of late then for its' actual purpose. If you are willing to make a few small changes you can begin the process of being healthier and happier. Your food/fuel intake should be prior to, not after daily physical activities, while reducing intake through the day. Remember less is MORE! Also WATER down any cravings and don't feed the monster. Hope everyone gets that one...LOL

Alan Stevenson June 10 What is X2O Xooma WorldWide's X2O is not bottled water or even a liquid product. It is like a small teabag, that is roughly 1/3rd the size of a regular tea bag. It is this product that you drop into your bottled water or a kool Xooma X2O bottle you have filled with bottled water. X2O once shaken up in with your water for 10 to 15 seconds supercharges your regular 7.0 pH water to 9.9 & 10.5 pH. This now supercharged cellular hydrating water is not just what you want, but NEED to help balance out your bodies acid by function condition. An alkaline internal state is healthy for us all as bactria, viruses & disease cells and tissue can not survive in this environment.
A high pH water intake helps flush away toxins. As your muscles take in fuel and produce energy they in turn produce lactic acid as an exhaust. It is this acid sitting in your muscles that causes the muscle fatigue and soreness so many suffer from, especially as they age.
X2O doesn't just out preform every other possible drink for cellular hydration as shown by the following pH levels of common beverages. Remember that anything below 7.12 pH your body kicks into gear to neutrilize and balance anything acid ingested.
Distilled water 7.0 pH
Beer 4.5 pH
Coffee 4.0 pH
Red Bull 3.3 pH
Full Throttle &
Gatorade 2.9 pH
Lipton Iced Tea 2.8 pH
AMP 2.7 pH
Powerade 2.6 pH
Soda / pop 2.0 pH = ing 100,000 times more acidic then your body. By comparison, X2O leaves all sports drinks gasping for breath. Possessing 74 minerals and electrolytes the body craves for peak performance.
Tested at the the NASA-Langley Research Park.
Just remember people : Xooma's X2O delivers the punch of an energy drink.. but is not one..
and does so without a single calorie, stimulant, sugar or high sodium. Chief Xooma Chef Alan Stevenson June 09 "Water & You" The Facts I remember as a child being told that we are 70% water. While standing there, I quickly visualized myself as being 70% water from a childs prospective and turning into a puddle on the ground. I remember while visualizing, trying very hard to mentally grasp the solidness of my body. The fact is, we come from water and are mostly water. All living things need water to survive. A plant will dry up if it does not get enough water. Humans slowly dry up from the inside out as they age due only to improper hydration, creating an internal acid environment. This acid state is known as acidosis and is the foundation to all bad bactria, viruses, ailments and diseases we have come to accept as just a part of growing old.
It is a proven fact the water content of a 65 to 75 year old is only around 60%. This is a 15% drop in optimal levels which in turn pushes our internal pH levels of 7.365 into the 4.5 to 6.0 pH range. Below 7.0 pH creates an optimal acidic environment for "old age diseases". I read just yesterday an article on msn Health & fitness "Aging: What to expect" ( Link ) I believe that it is articles such as these that do most of the imprinting we suffer from. We do not need to accept a disease ridden end to our lives as a probability ! In our youth we drank plenty of water, and then switch to acid power and energy drinks, soda, coffee, tea, etc. as we grow up. These all artificially stimulate our systems while water actually balances our systems naturally.
The most important thing for you to learn is drinking a high pH water is the starting point to all that you are and all that you do. You can eat as healthy as you like, yet if your internal cells are in a dehydrated acidic condition they can not assimilate the nutrients from the foods you are eating. On top of this, while your bodily fluids and blood are in a acid state they are doing considerable damage to your organs, bones, heart, arteries, tissue etc. A cell sitting in acid will die, but first becomes dry, rough surfaced and frayed. This in turn presents a surface for saturated fats to attach to and gather, clogging veins and arteries in around the heart. A plump hydrated cell has a smooth properly charged surface.
In closing I want to comment on another article from today on osteoporosis. "Parathyroid hormone peptides are an exciting new therapeutic option for patients with osteoporosis. In this Practice Point Commentary, Dr Compston discusses the recent findings of the meta-analysis by Vestergaard et al., highlighting the issues related to the use of parathyroid hormone treatment in clinical practice. Topics of discussion include the effect of parathyroid hormone peptides on risk of hip fracture, the optimal duration of treatment, and the role of combination therapy with anti-resorptive agent."
Osteoporosis is basically a dehydrating and demineralization of the bones ladies & gentlemen, which by the way both sexes suffer from. Your bones contain the majority of the minerals in your body and are used to neutralize acids in your system if you are not ingesting something else to compensate or help balance your pH.
So drinking water and more of it is the key! BUT not just regular water as a high pH water is what you want to aid your body in it's effort to pH balance your internal systems. This is because we are alkaline by nature and acid by function. Xooma's X2O is a tea bag like product you merely add to your water, then shake it up, let stand for 5 minutes and drink. This will be covered in more detail in our segment X2O & What it does for you!

" Our Daily Food and Water " Vol. 1 Entry 1 Today marks the starting point to this much needed fact filled Blog segment. To everything there must be a starting point, so we are going to back up to the actual starting point of our bodies. We need to all learn more of WHY we eat and drink and how that interacts with us or against us.
So why do we eat? If asked the question most people are going to come close to the correct answer, yet their diet is going to be a huge contradiction. Diet = Two base terms. #1 Any solid substance or liquid ingested. #2 A psychological aspect of what we ingest, " limiting what we ingest, being more consciously aware of what we eat." " I'm on a diet."
The correct answer is to nourish ourselves at the cellular level in order to preform our daily tasks. If you have enough energy left at the end of the day to react properly in an emergency, you are by older standards physically fit. ( High school health class definition ).
So we have established our goal: On a daily basis to nourish / fuel our cells to do phsyically what we need to. In order to nourish our cells with what is needed from the foods we eat, a cells structure must first be hydrated to accept the nutrients. Yet most people today are walking around in a dehydrated state. This state causes individual cell surface structure to become harder, making insulin's job of driving the nutrients into the cell a much harder one. Hydration, dehydration as well as rehydrating will be covered indepth in our Water & You segment.
Water is the most important thing to us all next to breathing oxygen for our survival. Now food you can live without for a few weeks. Yet in a few days without water your a goner. So what you drink as you will see in " What is X2O " is the most importantt first step to establishing a starting point...

“The cells of a healthy body are alkaline while the cells of a diseased body are acidic.” – Dr. Arthur Guyton (author of the “Textbook of Medical Physiology”)
Is Your Body Acidic?
Some of the symptoms associated with acidic conditions in the body include weight loss problems, insomnia, water retention, arthritis, migraine headaches, constipation, colds, flu, stomach ulcers, acid reflux and even cancer. Many health experts agree that an overly acidic body greatly diminishes the effectiveness of your immune system and usually leads to disease. When I go shopping to hand pick the BEST vegetables, meats, and fruits I do so with an eye as well as from within, but I am the luckiest of souls when the hearts of the people of Xooma WorldWide picked ME!
